Added Value

Value engineering is used to solve problems and identify and eliminate unwanted costs, while improving function and quality.

No single project presents a standardised set of opportunities for added value, which is why we approach our projects from first principles. We understand the constraints of local planning and environmental conditions, and we promote early engagement with these and statutory undertakers to ensure we have a fully defined brief prior to undertaking a value engineering assessment. By keeping ‘added value’ at the core of our business, we work closely with main clients and contractors to actively explore any potential ongoing efficiencies in the delivery programme and execution of works on site.

In the early stages of our appointment, we optimise our efforts by focusing on high cost items that can reduce capital expenditure significantly with lateral thinking and innovation:

  • Reuse of material or the adoption of more cost effective components.

  • Improvements and remediation of existing ground to offer cost effective foundation solutions.

  • Consideration of alternative solutions which may accelerate the construction stage programme of works.

  • Sustainable measures for managing drainage and in turn reducing infrastructure.
  • Low carbon technologies and strategies that provide smart energy infrastructure with increased efficiency, reduced costs, and a cleaner trajectory for heat and power.
  • Manipulation of site levels to optimise cut / fill models.
  • Reduce embodied carbon and project cost through lean design and optimisation.
  • Helping companies seeking to measure  stakeholder benefits, evaluate the broader social and environmental impacts and outcomes of their projects, programs and investments.
  • Assessment of design assumptions to identify elements which may be over specified against the brief.
